Was ist Mensch, was Maschine? Diese unheimliche Ähnlichkeit nennen japanische Roboterforscher „Uncanny Valley“.

Für das Stück „Unheimliches Tal“ ließ der Regisseur Stefan Kaegi ein animatronisches Double des Schriftstellers und Dramatikers Thomas Melle herstellen. Dieser Humanoide tritt anstelle des Autors auf und wirft Fragen allerlei auf:  Was geschieht, wenn die Kopie die Führung übernimmt? Konkurrieren Kopie und Original miteinander oder helfen sie sich gegenseitig? Lernt das Original sich selbst mit Hilfe des elektronischen Doubles besser kennen?

Ce este om, ce e maşină? Cercetătorii  japonezi în robotică  numesc această asemănare ciudată  drept „uncanny valley” (valea stranie / nebănuită).

În timpul pregătirii spectacolului, regizorul Stefan Kaegi a lucrat pentru prima dată cu un scriitor şi dramaturg: Thomas Melle a permis să i se facă o dublură animatronică. Acest umanoid va lua locul autorului, punând întrebări de genul: cum se va simţi originalul, dacă această copie va prelua conducerea? Va ajunge originalul să se cunoască mai bine prin intermediul copiei sale electronice? Va deveni copia rivalul originalului sau mai degrabă  se vor ajuta şi  completa reciproc?

What is human, what is machine? Japanese robotics researchers call this weird similarity the “uncanny valley”.

For his play, Stefan Kaegi worked for the first time with a writer and playwright: Thomas Melle allowed an animatronic double of himself to be made. This humanoid takes the author’s place and asks questions: what happens to the original when the copy takes over? Does the original get to know himself better through his electronic double? Do the copy and his original compete or do they help each other?
